After graduating college, I moved home to take care of my parents who were sick at the time. I moved 1,200 miles away from my friends and boyfriend to a place that all my childhood friends had moved on from. It was during this time that I got Moose.
Moose was with me through some of the most challenging moments of my life. He was with me when I started my first “real job,” when I lost my mom to cancer, when my dad was in the hospital for months at a time due to medical errors, and through so much more. He has been a faithful companion and the best friend any person could ask for.
This past fall, at the age of 4, he was diagnosed with a fibrosarcoma in his lower jaw. After months of diagnostic procedures and multiple vet visits, we decided to move forward with a mandibulectomy to remove the cancer and give him the best chance at living a long(er) life. Unfortunately, the vet was not able to get clean margins and Moose still has cancer. The only options left were to do an aggressive course of radiation or move into palliative care treatment.
At this point, the vet bills had been piling up and the thought of adding more bills was overwhelming. Thankfully, my family found KarmaSue. With the support of KarmaSue, pursuing treatment became a reality. Not only did KarmaSue provide financial support, but emotional as well. I can’t express how much the kind words, resources, and genuine concern have meant to Moose and me as we navigate through this trying time. Moose has gotten me through some of the hardest times in my life, I am thankful KarmaSue has enabled me to do the same for him.
